Board of Directors Meeting

Tuesday, January 13^th, 2009, 7:00 p.m.

Members present:  Jerry Bomay, Melissa Cunningham, Kevin Throop, Jason Cunningham, Jill Bomay

Members absent: Angel Brummel, Melissa HG, Deb Gonzales

Community Members present –

I.                    Approval of Minutes

a.       December minutes were reviewed.

b.      Approved –  Kevin and Melissa

II.                 Treasurer’s Report

a.       There is 6660.37 in checking.

b.      We made 2800 on the Texas holdem and contributed 4000.00 to senior all nighter.  Changes were made on the report to show it under contributions.

c.       We couldn’t approve it until everyone reviewed it online.

III.               Committee Reports

a.       Concessions – Deb –(not present)

b.      Coaching director – Jason

1.      We need a list of equipment to order.

2.      Jerry is going to the Glazier Clinic in Chicago on the first Friday in February.  The Grand Rapids clinic is the 20^th.

c.       Program Director – Melissa Cunningham

1.      She has the candles from Angel.

d.      Fundraiser – Angel

1.      She is still trying to pass out candles.

IV.              Old Business

1.      Preseason purchases – we need to order equipment repair kits (7).

2.      Off Season Training – scheduled for this Friday the 16^th for the younger kids and next Friday the 23^rd for the older kids.

V.                 New Business

a.       Registration costs and goals – Jerry made a registration flyer with primary registration dates in May.  He suggested adjusting the price for larger families and giving possible scholarships for families in need.  We discussed what we would need on the application form, including a reason for needing the scholarship.  If a family of 3 has a child qualifying for a scholarship, we would pay the first child’s fee, the family will pay the rest.  We discussed giving out up to 15 scholarships.

b.      We proofread the brochure and made fixes. Jerry will send it out again so we can make a final read before print.

c.       2009 Fundraisers – Angel – absent.  We need ideas for fundraisers.  We need to get the spaghetti dinner plans in action.  Kevin suggested an idea of having kids work for people in the community.  Those people donate money that goes to the organization.  We can check on parents donating time at places such as Van Andel and the money goes to GRF.  We need to sign up at Wendy’s again for Wendy’s night.  Jerry will send a mass email to let people know candles will be at preseason training nights.  Jerry also wants to give people info on helmet reconditioning.
